American composer James Horner, well known for his works for Titanic and Avatar lost his life in a plane crash.
Horner, 61, won the Academy Award for the Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song for Titanic and the album was the highest grosser of all time, selling around 30 million copies.
Apart from Titanic, he was nominated for 8 other Oscars. The composer died as his private plane crashed near Santa Barbara.
Confirming the incident, his personal assistant Sylvia Patrycja posted on Facebook: "We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road."
Horner had composed for three James Cameroon films apart from classics such as Braveheart, A beautiful mind, Apollo 13 and Field of Dreams.
