Son Wan Ho
If you don't have strong points in certain areas of your game to boost your confidence that does not mean that you are weak enough to lose. Winning and playing with confidence goes hand in hand and boy, what an example, Son Wan Ho is.

Not a long ago he was attending his military duties in South Korea and taking a complete break from badminton. Coming back the 26-year-old is now a completely different person, understanding his basic game and never making easy points for opponents. He is becoming a hard nut to crack.

While everybody in the badminton world was wondering about the successor who could carry the Korean flag in the Mens singles category after Lee Hyun-il, Son Won Ho comes as a pleasant surprise.

Analyzing his game before and after military sabbatical, there is some new found confidence visible in his all round game. Before his military duties he would play a rally in which he would counter his opponent even before being in the perfect position to smash and would go for audacious angled cross court shots.

He soon understood that he do not possess any potent weapon in his game like Lee Chong Wei's killer smash or Jan O. Jorgensen's power to trouble his opponents. But Wan Ho uses his limitations to fair advantage. He prolonged his rallies and played the waiting game against his superior skilled opponents in the recently concluded All England Open.

Against Lee Chong Wei in the semi finals, he almost pulled off an upset, going down harshly in an energy draining 3-game match. He neutralized the attacks of Chong Wei by never giving him time and space to attack.

Similarly, against Chen Long in the Incheon Asian Games Team Finals, Son played a superior defence and net play along with waiting game to setup a memorable win for Korea. He is easily the most improved player in the Mens singles category this year and the whole badminton world is eager to see his unearthed talent.
