Pizza delivery boy turns rescuer in Mumbai fire; social activist dies trying to save people


Jitesh Ahire, a pizza delivery boy rescued people from as fire broke out in Mumbai's Lake Home Residential Complex on Sunday. As soon as he spotted the fire when he arrived for delivering pizza in phase 1 of the complex, the brave man soon rushed in and started the rescue mission. 

The fire consumed seven lives and at least 25 were injured, reports Mumbai Mirror. 

Social activist loses himself trying to save others

Tausif Shaikh, a social worker perished as he was taking a lift to rescue more people after successfully saving one. 

"Tausif rushed to the building and went to the floor from where the fire started. He managed to save one person and brought that person down. Tausif, however, decided to go back up again in order to save more people who were stuck upstairs," a relative of the deceased was quoted as saying.

The fire that broke out on the 14th floor soon spread to the 15th and 16th floors. An air-conditioner that caught fire was said to be the source of the casualty.
