Sania Mirza celebrates the win and the World No.1 rank, Martina Hingis looks on

India's Sania Mirza becomes the first Indian women to be crowned the World No.1 in the individual doubles WTA ranking. The 28-year-old made history by winning the Family Circle Cup, the third title on the trot with Switzerland's Martina Hingis in the clay event at Charleston.

Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak were of no match to the top-seeded pair as they cruised to 6-0, 6-4 win in 57 minutes.

Since joining hands, the pair has brushed aside every challenge and is unbeaten pocketing Indian Wells and Miami Open titles before laying hands on this trophy.

Earlier in the week, the pair replaced the Russian duo of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina at the top of the women's doubles ranking after their quarter-final win. Notably, the pair has only dropped three sets together and is on a 14-match winning streak.

Sania is now with 7.965 rating points ahead of Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci - both tied at 7,640.
