Richie Benaud

Renowned commentator and Australian legend Richie Benaud dies at the age of 84. Having represented Australia in 63 Tests, Benaud scored 2201 runs with the bat and his leg-spin fetched him 248 wickets.

Benaud is also the first man to accomplish the landmark of 200 wickets and 2000 runs. Notably, he has not lost a single Test as captain - he led in 28 matches. His first class record reads a staggering 945 wickets to go with 11719 runs.

Benaud was better known to this generation as a commentator with Channel Nine, where he continued to work till 2013. It was revealed last November that he was suffering from skin cancer.

Cricketers and media persons worldwide are sending in their tributes since the news broke out.

Well-known commentator and cricket writer Harsha Bhogle tweeted: "There hasn't been a commentator who watched and heard Richie Benaud and didn't wish he could be as good. It is a very sad day for our game."
