The action packed RCB failed miserably last time and finished seventh in the table with just 5 wins from their 14 matches. But still they have the quality to go all the way in the tournament this time.

Strengths

AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli hold the hopes of RCB fans and are the two best match winners that the team has. Dinesh Karthik adds some more solidity in the middle order and can be reliable as well.

Even though Mitchell Starc was ruled out for the first half of the season, he is the main man in the bowling department.

Weaknesses

The absence of a quality all-rounder to fill in the fifth bowler quota is the major weakness that the squad suffers. The highly unpredictable Darren Sammy must step up or the team would have to rely on their batsmen to lift them up in every single game.

The half-fit Chris Gayle is surely a setback to the team if they rely on the big man. He struggled to run between the wickets in the World Cup which can affect the team in depth because in T20 every single run is essential.

Opportunities

Dinesh Karthik is one of the highly paid players in IPL. Last season, he failed to prove his worth with the table floppers Delhi Daredevils. He must perform this time if he has any idea to return to the Indian squad.

Darren Sammy and Rilee Rossouw are in contention for the fourth foreigner quota and both have to use any opportunity that comes across at any point of time, if they want to be in the side for a longer period.

Threats

Even though the RCB squad has the depth and quality, they are still far away from forming a winning combination. They have a number of players playing at the same position which can cause the team dearly if they were brutally exposed in the hole that they could not fill.
