Palk strait issue: India to hold talks with Sri Lanka

The third round of fisherman community talks between the two countries is to be held on Tuesday in Chennai. The 15-member delegation representing Sri Lanka have arrived in Chennai earlier. The previous two meetings between the two parties failed to make any positive headings.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take necessary action to prevent Indian fisherman being shot/arrested by the Sri Lankan navy.

Few days back 54 Indian fisherman were arrested and 10 boats were seized by the Sri Lankan navy for allegedly poaching in the coast of Kankesanturai and Talaimannar.
