The suicides of farmers in the Kota division of Rajasthan is increasing day by day, with three more farmers reported dead as they were unable to digest the loss of their crops owing to untimely rain. Two committed suicide and a 68-year-old died in heart attack on Sunday.

Premshaker Meena (20) of Ladpur village of Bundi district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree. He was reported to be depressed by the destruction of his crops by recent unseasonal rains.

In Ramnagar village of Boodadit police station, Vinod Meena (21) also committed suicide for the same reason. Even worse is, a 68-year-old man, Rameshawar Tiwari, a resident of Hanotiya village of Kota district died in heart attack on learning that his crops were destroyed.

Reports say that the total number of deaths has now increased to 11. A compensation of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per bigha of land for the rain-hit farmers across the state were demanded by the state president of Rajasthan Pradesh Kisan, not satisfied with the relief package, already announced by the state government. Another demand for the exemption of electricity bills for the next six months was also put forward.
