1. Sepp Blatter
The Swiss has been in the seat since 1998 who was thrice re-elected in 2002, 2007 and 2011. Despite his consecutive spells, the experienced man was accused for mismanagements of funds and allegations of corruption. But the 78-year old is still the top contender.
2. Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein
The founder and the president of the West Asian Football Federation nominated himself to rival Sepp Blatter. Prince Ali serves as a member of both the FIFA Executive Committee and the AFC Executive Committee.
3. Michael van Praag
The chairman of the Royal Dutch Football Association is one of the strongest candidates and has enough experience to lead the world football. On January 26, 2015 he announced his decision to run against Sepp Blatter stating “I'm very worried about the deteriorating situation at FIFA. The public opinion, the trustworthiness, is very bad, and with me a lot of people in the world believe so.”
4. Jerome Campagne
The former French diplomat became a consultant in football and served as an executive in FIFA from 1999, leaving the post in 2010. After announcing his candidacy, he has declared he would run a clean campaign and would consider taking the 2022 World Cup away from Qatar if he won the election.
5. Luis Figo
The former world’s most expensive player announced his nomination which came as a surprise to the football world. The former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid star heavily criticized FIFA and Sepp Blatter for ruining the image of FIFA and told a change in leadership is required for which he is going to compete.
