As we say, every week gives new results, new stars, new dimensions and new winners. We have a lot for this week too: let's get into the Europe’s top leagues and the positions of teams. As usual, EPL head lists the pile.
Premier league
Hot news in English Premier League is Manchester United’s return to the TOP 4. They fought hard and beat Everton to earn their place with 11 points and on goal difference. The most anticipated London Derby between Chelsea and Arsenal went in favor of the hosts as Jose Mourinho’s side made light work of Arsene Wenger’s men. With the result, Chelsea still remains undefeated this term and top the table with 19 points from 7 games.
Manchester City sits second with 14 points, five behind the leaders. Southampton still manages to remain in the top 4 despite a loss to Tottenham. Everton are just above the relegation zone at 16th place and are yet to find back their lost form.
La Liga
Finally, Real Madrid are in top 4 after a struggling start. They once again thrashed their opponents by scoring five goals, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s record equaling hat-trick. The Portugese star scored his 22nd hat-trick in the competition. Defending champions Atletico Madrid slipped once again as they lost to Valencia by 3-1. Diego Simeone must do something quickly to find their lost winning streak before the title goes a long way from his hand.
Toppers Barcelona had a routine win who are very comfortable at the top without conceding a single goal in this year’s campaign. Valencia and Sevilla are placed 2nd and 3rd respectively followed by Real Madrid.
Bundesliga
There are no doubts that this year’s league is again a single horse race as Bayern Munich thrashed Hannover by 4-0 and are at the top with 17 points. Despite only a 4 point difference to the next team, they are the one and only side who can win the title owing to their quality. The other top 4 teams are Hoffenheim, Borussia M’gladbach and Leverkusen respectively at 2, 3 and 4.
But the puzzling question in Germany is: what happened to Borussia Dortmund? The only other strong contenders for the title in seasons before have just a single point from their last four games. They went down to Hamburg 0-1. It is an unthinkable start from the side but all we can do is hope for a better future.
Serie A
What a match between the top 2 tiers? Juventus and Roma had a real battle which has seen TWO red cards and SEVEN yellows. Somehow Juventus won the game, a big thanks to the screamer from defender Leonardo Bonucci that came very late in the game. Juventus top the table with 18 points.
A frustrated Roma side sits second, three points behind the leaders who are followed by Sampdoria and Udinese at 3 and 4 respectively.
Ligue 1
The French competition finally settled down to a halt as Olympique Marseille take a five points lead to top the table. But the interesting fact is they have the highest goal difference which differentiates many sides in France.
Bordeaux are in the second place two points clear of Paris Saint Germain who are at 3rd. Lille and Nantes also have the same points as PSG but the difference in goals ditched them to 4th and 5th.
Stay tuned for next week.
