Tamil Nadu Cheif Minister Jayalalitha has won the RK Nagar by-poll by a massive margin of 1,51,252 votes.
CPI candidate C.Mahendran with only 9,669 votes comes a distant second. The result is expected to be one of the most one-sided contests ever. All contestants but Jayalalitha lost deposit including social activist 'Traffic' Ramaswamy.
The AIADMK party leader sworn in as the Chief Minister on May 23 and thus had to be elected to the constitution within 6 months. Then RK Nagar MLA P Vetrivel resigned from the post and it was soon announced that Jayalalitha will contest from the North Chennai constituency.
It is also the 6th time Jayalalitha has won a constitutional election.
