Udhayanidhi - Santhanam combo's third film, second with Nayanthara - enough crowd pulling factors in this so called comedy movie that works in parts.
Santhanam plays hero's friend as usual and his pairing with Udhayanidhi (Sathya) is successful yet again to some extent is.
As a jobless jack, Udhayanithi leaves home to meet his friend Sivakozhundhu. Accidentally, (again!) meets Nayanthara three times in a day and continues to go after his lucky charm (by his mother's belief).
The usual romantic-comedy track takes a bit of time to get going and settles at a moderate pace. Nayanthara, as a private bank employee, is quite beautiful on screen and at times takes the movie forward. Udhayanidhi slowly gets into Nayanthara's heart and the script gives you a small surprise by the interval.
After the break, it was soon galvanised and the second part, to put simply, is an extended version of the first. Could be avoided type songs in the second half, slow moving screenplay are negatives.
Sherin - yes, that girl of Thulluvatho Ilamai fame is paired opposite Santhanam. The girl executes the role to perfection. Guest appearance for Tamannaah. Karunakaran as a cop, also a member of Nannbenda, is a bit of a negative-comedian. Nan Kadavul Rajendran, as a bad guy, Pooja as Nayanthara's friend, Chitra Lakshmanan, Sayaji Shinde, Pattimandram Raja are the other notable casts.
Harris Jeyaraj has given a decent performance. One might have watched 'Oorellaam Unnai Kandu' a hundred times on television, yet, it is very attractive to watch it on the big screen. Balasubramaniem's lenses have done a good job to give a pleasant watch, capturing the localities throughout the film and it just goes a step higher in that pleasing melody.
Nothing to praise about Jagadish's story, but he has given something to spend a two and half hours after all. Editing is by Vivek Harshan.
As said earlier, a usual comedy track. Watch if you are a comedy lover and have nothing profitable to do. Predictably, Nayanthara and Harris Jayaraj are the two positives apart from Santhanam. Could work well with family audiences.
Marks: 5.5/10
