The last IPL's sensation and finalists - Kings XI Punjab impressed every cricket fan with their play. With smart captainship, action show and young bloods they exhibited almost all the positives in their game before faltering in the final. This time they are ready and are capable of beating everyone on their way to the crown.
The 'M' duo: Maxwell and Miller are the pillars of the Kings XI batting order and can make any target look easy with their hits. Captain George Bailey's leadership is also an undeniable strength.
The presence of Indian young bloods blossoming with talent was the key for the Kings last time and can emerge this time too.
Weaknesses
Kings XI Punjab easily let away 200+ scores against their oppositions last season. Even though they chased down the target in most of the occasions, you can not expect the wind in your favor all the time and that was proved as they lost in the very important time - the big final.
Except Mitchell Johnson and Axar Patel, Kings' bowlers are non-reliable in high tempo games. Sandeep Sharma shined last season, but that is not a guarantee that he will perform to the mark this time as the IPL have seen some one-season wonders.
Opportunities
Murali Vijay was bought to partner veteran Virender Sehwag at the top and probably play ahead of Manan Vohra who showed a bit of quality last time around. Vijay should play at his best to prove the buyers that they have not wasted the money on him.
Axar Patel excelled last season and was rewarded with a World Cup berth with the Indian national team. The presence of Ravindra Jadeja did not allow him to break into the XI. If he can perform with both bat and ball, his chances of making the Indian first team are bright.
Threats
The out-of-form George bailey has to find his touch soon if he wants the crown that slipped last time. Also, the team has quite a few hit or miss kind players in all areas which always is a threat to any team. Starting from Sehwag till Maxwell, the batting order can self-destruct at any given day.
Further, the Kings have to play their first six games(almost the first half of the season) away from Mohali (Pune being the other home venue) which also could affect the results.
