Rafael Nadal drops to No.7 in ATP rankings; lowest in 10 years

Rafael Nadal, arguably one of the greatest to grace the tennis court dropped down to No.7 in the latest ATP rankings.

The Spaniard failed to defend the Madrid Open title against Britain's Andy Murray as he lost 6-3, 6-2 in 88 minutes. As a result, the 9-time French Open winner lost 400 rating points and is placed at a lowly 7th spot, his lowest in over a decade.

The 28-year-old is in the middle of his worst ever clay court season as the 'king of clay' has already lost 4 matches on his favorite surface. The defeats have now created more doubts on whether he will be able to retain his crown at the Roland Garros.

Kei Nishikori also dropped a place to be sixth as Milos Raonic and Tomas Berdych moved up to 4th and 5th places, respectively.
