Former England captain Kevin Pietersen is India bound after England director of cricket Andrew Strauss stated that the batsman will not be recalled in spite of convincing performances.

“I am absolutely devastated that it looks like my hopes of an England recall have been brought to a close, especially given everything that has been said and asked of me,” the player wrote in his column for the Telegraph.

The South Africa-born will now join IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad after making his personal best of 355*, Notably, he was picked for £250,000 in the IPL auctions but was allowed to ply his trade his county cricket. The new ECB Chairman Colin Graves had earlier stated that he could be recalled with performances for a county team. However, Strauss' arrival shut the door of opportunity abruptly.

"Nobody has called me. I have given up my IPL contract, at great expense, to play in county cricket. Surrey did not have any funds free to pay me so I said I would play for nothing, just a donation to charity, and it is horrendous to feel I have been led down the garden path. They knew all along this was a dead end for me." Pietersen further wrote.

Pietersen's arrival will boost the chances of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament as they are on track to make the playoffs. He will leave for India on Friday, the same day when his side enters the must-win game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
