Sample Aadhaar card

Tamil Nadu government has planned to distribute plastic Aadhaar cards made of PVC to all card holders at a price of Rs.30. The e-service department, running in all the 254 Taluk offices is given the authority to provide the improved cards as quick as possible to all current card holders.

A total of 4 lakh and 74 thousand people were given Aadhaar identity in the state and they use a cut piece of the Aadhar card confirmation slip as ID which may easily be damaged or teared off. So the TN government come up with the idea to make the cards using PVC which could not be damaged easily and will serve for a long time.

Though UIDAI hold the rights to provide Aadhaar cards all over India, Tamil Nadu government has taken the responsibility themselves and will provide the new plastic cards which will be easy to use and are equally strong as ATM cards, a source from the e-service department confirmed.

196 printers are being sent to the respective e-service stations across the state with the help of UIDAI and the service will be available in the near future.

To get the new card, a citizen needs to register his/her thumb impression or have to confirm the verification code sent to him/her to the registered mobile number. Plans to use iris scan for recognition is also under consideration.

Only the person who owns the details will be given the new Aadhaar card and representatives will not be considered. One can get multiple cards at ₹30 each.
