5 SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) terrorists, who escaped a Madhya Pradesh jail in 2013, still out in the wild, pose a serious problem for national security, says Home minister Rajnath Singh.
Urging Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Cheif Minister of Madhya Pradesh to take quick, appropriate action, Singh wrote a letter pointing out that even after "a lapse of more than a year," the five are yet to be brought back to jail.
From the seven escaped, the group's head was already arrested in December 2013 while one other surrendered the very next day they made it past a 14-foot security wall. The five were yet to be found.
"In fact, this group has emerged as a major security challenge to the country and has managed to successfully to evade arrest by the law enforcement agencies of different states," he wrote.
Firstpost reports Karnataka to be the last known location of the gang's members and it is learned that a national wide alert has been made to look out for them.
The report also claims official sources as informing the five missing are Mohammad Aijajudden, Mohammad Aslam, Amjad Khan, Zakir Hussain Sadiq and Mehboob Guddu.
Suspected to be involved in a bank robbery on the 1st of February, 2014, bombing of the Bangalore-Guwahati train at the Chennai Central (1 May, 2014) and the explosion near Faraskhana and Vishrambag police stations in Pune (10 July, 2014), the group's previous dwelling place covers Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
