Virat Kohli begins preparation for West Indies series at National Cricket Academy

India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has arrived at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Monday to train ahead of the home series against West Indies, according to a Times of India report. The 25-year-old joined opener Shikhar Dhawan, middle order batsman Ambati Rayudu, and bowlers Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami at the centre.

It is well known that Kohli did not enjoy a fruitful time during the England tour, India’s last assignment and had only one single half-century to show for his efforts. Notably, the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain spent valuable time with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai earlier this month to sort out his issues outside the off-stump that pitted his downfall in England. With him moving to NCA, it is evident that the Indian vice-captain is keen on regaining his golden touch with the bat.

The report further states that the Delhi lad spent most of his time batting in the nets apart from involving himself in fitness regimes with trainers. West Indies are scheduled to play 5 ODIs, 1 T20I and 3 Tests in India in October-November. The tour gets rolling with the first ODI on October 8 in Kochi.

The right-handed batsman has 919 runs from 18 ODI matches at an average of 57.43 with 2 hundreds and 7 fifties against the Caribbean side.
