Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yet another action thriller from Venkat Prabhu, the teaser looks promising and the movie is highly anticipated by Surya fans. There is extra responsibility on the actor as his previous outing, Anjaan, didn’t go well. This movie bagged two National Awards for the year 2014 that has created a sensation to look out for the movie. Dominated mostly by child artists, this is expected to make a huge impact.

Ishwarya Rajesh who has acted as the female lead in a handful of movies plays a mother in this. That is an another interesting news as upcoming, young actresses would generally avoid doing elderly characters. Another reason is that director Vetrimaran and actor Dhanush have jointly produced this movie. Both have no reason to back a film for commercial factors alone.

Maari

Cast: Dhanush, Kajal Agarwal
Director: Balaji Mohan
Music Director: Anirudh Ravichander

The duo of Dhanush and Anirudh is ruling the industry and when they join hands there is huge anticipation. The first look for the movie has reached masses and the fans are madly waiting for the movie release. Also, the director looks promising as his previous movies didn’t fail to entertain the audience.

This bilingual from the maker of Maaveeran and Naan E boasts an array of  stars adding spice. Rajamouli, known  for delivering special movies in different genres, has created quite a lot of buzz for this. The first look posters revealing the characters one by one has worked well for promotions, but the script can't be predicted. The screenplay will have more value that it will be a great feast for the audience.

Another romantic comedy from Ponram who debuted with Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam that enjoyed a huge response all over the state. The movie also marks an important phase in the actor's career as he looks for greater heights. Sivakarthikeyan - Ponram - Soori combo might work well again.

As the team's previous movie has made the debut heroine gain a significant place in the industry, the spotlight will be on the leading lady.

24

Director: Vikram Kumar
Music Director: A.R.Rahman

Surya's next venture after Venkat Prabhu’s Mass. Though the director didn’t have a good start to his career, his later movies like Yaavarum Nalam and Manam gives hope. The plot of the film is expected to be a scientific thriller which demands attention. Also, the background score which is to be penned by Oscar hero A.R.Rahman will be an added advantage. The duo of Surya and Samantha come together after Anjaan.

Though the entire team is new to the industry, the output doesn’t seem so since it already bagged many rewards. The story of the film is about a chapter in Thirukural which deals about avoiding mistakes. The trailer of the movie gives no clue to predict the story, as we eagerly wait to find out why its so special.

Puli

Cast: Vijay, Prabhu, Hansika Motwani, Shruti Hasan, Sudeep, Sridevi, Thambi Ramaiah
Director: Chimbudevan
Music Director: Devi Sri Prasad

Could possibly be the most awaited movie of the year because of the star package included. The film has a strong crew which could work out very well if the script goes fine. While looking on the director, his previous movies made every age group enjoy his movies. Vijay’s last appearance in Kaththi had a strong message and won critical acclaims, in turn creating a lot of expectation.

The film is said to be the biggest in Vijay’s long career and one of the costliest in Tamil film industry. The story of the film runs between two different periods (the ancient and the present one) and the actor is expected to appear in dual roles. Many films have come in this concept in Kollywood, but making it different from other movies lies in the hands of the director.
