Novak Djokovic

World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic was named 'Sportsman of the year' in the Laureus World Sports Awards 2015 held in Shanghai on Wednesday.

The Serbian won his second Wimbledon tournament defeating the great Roger Federer in a five-setter and also emerged triumphant in the ATP Finals for the third time on the trot.

Ethiopian athlete Genzebe Dibaba won the 'Sportswoman of the year' award. The distance runner broke three world records across three different formats within a span of two weeks - only the third to do so after Jesse Owens and Usain Bolt.

Germany named team of the year

Germany men's football side was named the 'Team of the year' for becoming the first European side to lift the FIFA World Cup in South America. Managed by Joachim Löw, the side defeated Argentina in the final by a margin of 1-0, courtesy, Mario Gotze winner.
