Earthquake hits Delhi, Nepal; Indian Army in rescue mission

An earthquake of magnitude 7.9 has been recorded in Nepal damaging life and infrastructure on a large scale. 

The Indian Army contingent that was in Mount Everest for an expedition was safe and is now heading to take part in rescue mission of their neighbour reported the Times of India. 

Many sites of historic importance were hit hard by the calamity including the famous Dharhara tower which was reduced to the ground.

Tremors were observed in many places across Northern India including New Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow. 

"We are in the process of finding more information and are working to reach out to those affected, both at home & in Nepal," tweeted India Prime Minster Narendra Modi.
