Coming with the tagline of India's expensive movie, Baahubali opens to tremendous response with the audience turning out to the cinemas in great numbers. To be frank, for a bilingual with non-Tamil leads in it, this kind of an opening is overwhelming.
Making the best use of being the lone big release, the movie is set to rule the collections. Majestic visuals and high-quality support cast make this a pleasant watch despite the story being well predictable and the average climax.
Storyline
A baby prince unexpectedly survives an assassination and is destined to save his mother from captivity without realizing it, the tale behind.
Cast & Crew
If there is anything that deserves an extreme level of praise in this film is the graphics - breathtaking. Songs were the major drawback despite the film being a bilingual. Maragatha Mani (a) M.M.Keeravani's background score improved in the second half of the film, sadly, not so unique.
Peter Hein's stunt choreography was very appealing. Each and every sequence was well planned. The dedication and hard work of the crew did not go waste.
Rajamouli has taken extensive care to meet the expectations of the masses and also satisfy the critics, he was reasonable successful. Dialogues by Madhan Karky had enough Tamil in it. The other language that he created for the movie could have been better served with subtitles, one may argue. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao's editing could have made the movie crisper. No complaints with the cinematography of K.K.Senthil Kumar.
Among the female leads, Ramya Krishnan had more screen presence above Tamannaah and Anushka. As the queen, the boldness she carried throughout the narration was top class and not once she was overreacting. Tamannaah was angelic but was limited to the first half. Anushka's character was dubbed to be a major part of the story, but apart from the interaction with Sathyaraj her character hardly had a thing to do in this part.
Finally, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati - The two pillars of the narration. With muscular looks and brave characterization, the duo scored in every frame. Sathyaraj was well and truly the valuable asset of the film. Nasser as always was a great addition.
Quite predictably, they are in for a sequel and the climax sows the seed for it. The point to be noted is there is a lot left in the flashback itself.
Bottomline
Baahubali, on the whole, is a costly entertainment flick that is bound to strike gold at the box office. Critics might have a field day.
