Malli Mastan Babu - the fastest '7 summiteer' found dead

One of the world's top mountaineer India's Malli Mastan Babu was confirmed dead in the Andes mountains after he slipped while climbing on it in the Argentina-Chile border. His team lost contact with him on 24th March.

From then, the rescue unit tried their best to find Babu in the hills, but due to strong rain and hazardous weather conditions, the rescue plans could not be executed with full intensity.

Sadly, the rescue team can only find his body in the mountains and could not even rescue his body due to the heavy rain.

"It appears that from the base camp he set off alone. The rain worsened after he left. He was supposed to return on the 24th, but did not. The area gets a lot of rains and floods," his sister, Dr. Malli Dorasanamma said.

He holds the record for climbing the famous mountains of all the seven continents in a short period of 172 days.

Babu was born in Nellore of Andhra Pradesh and studied at IIT, Kharagpur. Mountains were like his home and climbing was his fun according to his family and friends.
