Even though one neglects the name S.P.Jananathan and the star cast involved, the film is still below par, both in terms of quality and quantity.

Storyline

A rebel team tries to save their leader from death sentence by plotting an escape plan with the help of the hang man. They encounter problems in the form of a strict police personnel. Will they be successful in the operation? Or law wins?

Cast & Crew

Arya (Balu (a) Balasamy) is picture perfect for the role of a rebel head and so does Shaam (Macelle).

The screenplay was extremely weak and the narrator makes an unsuccessful attempt to make it as a commercial entertainer while it lags even in the core theme. Not able to clearly identify the director's intentions to skip some connecting portions here and there - like why even the public hates such a person who actually do good to them and extremely misplaced songs that abruptly blocks any sense of seriousness attached.

The clarity in narrating the process behind a death sentence and its execution deserves high praise, but one cannot watch a movie for some brilliant portions or informative sections. Having said that, it involves guts to make a movie on this theme.

It requires someone to remind one that this was indeed a work of the director who made Iyarkai and Peranmai. Editing is another serious disappointment to go with the background score. Debutant composer Varshan should work hard in his future projects for recognition. Apart from the artwork that has done a great job in creating the jail set, the entire technical team disappointed.

Karthika (Kuyili) has done a decent job. Vijay Sethupathy (Yamalingam) tried his best to highlight the character that refuses to do murder in the name of hanging but an actor of lesser caliber could have been used. The final output does make a question to assemble this star cast.

There were some notable parts like the suicide attempt on Indian Army in snowy mountains and the train hijack in the desert. The scenes where Vijay Sethupathy meets Arya were good, the final conversation between Shaam and Arya was another. Overall, the dialogues alone fight to deliver the message that was well lost in the mix.

Bottomline

Attempt if you are someone with serious communal beliefs. More care to screenplay could have easily made this a film to remember, sadly, it is not.

Marks: 5.5/10
