5-year sentence for Salman Khan in hit-and-run case; moves bail petition

Bollywood actor Salman Khan was found guilty of the hit-and-run case (2002) in which he was charged to have killed a homeless man by rash driving and was sentenced to a five-year jail term.

The actor was driven by alcohol and accused to have ran over a man sleeping on the platform, also hit the American Express bakery in the Bandra area of Mumbai, the authorities say. 

Khan was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser and the case has been going on for years. Salman (49) is expected to challenge the verdict and his bail petition is going to be heard around 4.30 pm on Wednesday. 

Notably, the actor was also linked with another case that accuse him of poaching black bucks at Kankani village, near Jodhpur with the illegal usage of arms in 1998. 

Salman Khan is a big name in Bollywood and has a huge fan following all over the country. The actor who was accompanied by his family and friends broke down in tears on listening to the verdict.
